This information is used to assess language diversity and retention.</span><br />If no languages other than English or French are spoken, mark the circle labelled <span class="em">None</span>.<br />Do not report a language learned at school unless a conversation of some length on various topics can be carried out in that language.<br />For a child who has not yet learned a language, report a language <span class="em">other than English or French</span> if used often <span class="em">at home</span>.<br />If deaf or mute, report a sign language if used.<br />If a person speaks an <span class="em">Indian </span>language (from <span class="em">India</span>), do not report Indian but rather the specific language such as Hindi, Urdu or Punjabi.<br />If a person speaks an <span class="em">Amerindian </span>(North American Indian) language, report the specific Amerindian language such as Cree or Ojibway.</div><br /></svar>
