    Sampling

    Sampling Procedure

The sampling procedure is choice-based, as the data come from students who selected and attended eight specific colleges at Delhi University. While the complete choice set of colleges is known, data are unavailable for students who chose other institutions, potentially introducing selection bias. The sample includes a mix of colleges representing DU’s geographic and quality distribution. To address potential bias, the study applies a mixed logit model with alternative-specific intercepts and corrects for choice-based sampling using established econometric methods. Robustness checks indicate that selection effects do not drive the main findings.

    Response Rate

There was a 100 percent response rate for the surveys, but 204 students (5.2 percent) did not complete the survey, leaving missing some information on residential location and high school exam scores.
