After the Second World War, eight population censuses were conducted in the Republic of Macedonia: in 1948, 1953, 1961, 1971, 1981, 1991, 1994 and 2002. \n\nThe 1991 census coverage was not complete and, therefore, another census in the same decade was conducted in 1994. The data in the Census forms have been written according to the situation at midnight between 31st of October and 1st of November 2002. \n\nThe methodology, definitions and classifications for this Census are completely harmonized with the Law on Census and the Recommendations for censuses on Population, Households and Dwellings prepared by the United Nations and the Statistical Service of the European Union - EUROSTAT.
