Income and Expenditure on - Rent and Mortgage - Other property - Furniture - Insurance (Domestic, Motor vehicle, Life, Health) - Health ( last 3 months) - Vehicle (last 12 months) - Household and personal durables ( last 12 months) - Apparel (last 3 months) - Household items - lamps, chairs, duvets etc. (last 3 months) - Loans (last 12 months) - Education (last 12 months) - Recreation (last 3 months) - Payments and subscriptions - Refunds - Salaries/wages - Leave grant and bonuses - Profits - Benefits received - Cash received - Other income - Tax payment - Commodities and services consumed by the household from sources other than own purchase during last month The survey also includes: - Diary of expenditure - Cash gifts received - Gifts from friend - Gifts from brother The module on Household Economic Activities included the following: - Eligibility and Description of Primary and Secondary Small-Scale Economic Activity - Basic characteristics of the economic activity - Earnings and hired labour in the enterprise - Output, transfers and sale of crops during the last 12 months for agricultural crop production enterprises - Output, transfers and sale of products of other agricultural activities (livestock including dairying, fishing etc.) and manufacturing activity during the last month - Other receipts of the enterprise- agricultural or non agricultural - Value of inputs other than hired labour of both agricultural and non- agricultural acivities - Value of stocks as on the date of the survey with the enterprise - Purchase of assets during the last 12 months - Basic characteristics of the economic activity - Earnings and hired labour in the enterprise - Output, transfers and sale of crops during the last 12 months for agricultural crop production enterprises - Output transfers and sales of products of other agricultural activities (livestock including dairying, fishing etc.) and manufacturing activity during the last month - Other receipts of the enterprises- agricultural or non-agricultural - Value of sales, home-consu,ption and other transfers of goods and services meant for sale of non-agricultural enterprises excluding manufacturing during the last month - Value of inputs other than hired labour of both agricultural and non-agricultural activities - Value of stocks as on the date of the survey with the enterprise - Purchase of assets during the last 12 months Multi-stage stratified random sample. The sample design involved stratifying the country into 10 strata. Four were the cities of Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu, and the municipality of Zomba. The rest were other urban and rural areas. (See Annex II of Mission report for some of the proposed changes). Data were collected using four main forms: household composition, income and expenditure questionnaire, diary expenses. and economic activities.
