Demographic and Health Survey (standard) - DHS IV
L'Enquête Démographique et de Santé 2004 est la seconde EDS réalisée au Tchad après celle de 1996.

L'univers de l'enquête est l'ensemble de la population et au niveau des sous-populations toutes les femmes âgées de 15 à 49 ans (résidentes habituelles ou visiteuses) qui se trouvaient dans les ménages ont été enquêtées. De plus, dans un ménage sur trois, tous les hommes de 15 à 59 ans (résidents habituels ou visiteurs) ont été enquêtés.

La saisie des données sur micro-ordinateur a débuté une semaine après le démarrage de l'enquête sur le terrain, en utilisant le logiciel CSPro, développé conjointement par le Bureau du Recensement des Etats-Unis, le Programme DHS, et le Serpro S.A. Deux personnes étaient chargées de la vérification des questionnaires ainsi que de la codification des questions relatives aux catégories socioprofessionnelles. La saisie a été réalisée par quatorze opérateurs, assistés de deux contrôleurs et supervisés par l'équipe technique. Tous les questionnaires ont fait l'objet d'une double saisie, ce qui a permis d'éliminer du fichier, les erreurs dues à la saisie. Par ailleurs, un programme de contrôle de qualité permettait de détecter, pour chaque équipe, certaines des principales erreurs de collecte. Ces informations étaient immédiatement répercutées sur les équipes de terrain lors des missions de supervision afin d'améliorer la qualité des données.
Les erreurs de mesure sont celles associées à la mise en oeuvre de la collecte et de l'exploitation des données telles que l'omission de ménages sélectionnés, la mauvaise interprétation des questions de la part de l'enquêtrice ou de l'enquêtée, ou les erreurs de saisie des données. Bien que tout le possible ait été fait pour minimiser ce type d'erreur pendant la mise en oeuvre de l'EDST-II, il est difficile d'éviter et d'évaluer toutes les erreurs de mesure.
