This Handbook provides information that will assist in understanding the complex
environment that is Timor-Leste. The research and analysis supports a range of contingencies
that might see the Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel operating in Timor Leste in
support of the Timor Leste Government. These include bi-lateral and multi-lateral exercises,
stabilisation and capacity building missions and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief
(HADR) operations.
