Thailand Investment Climate Survey was conducted under the supervision of the Foundation for Thailand Productivity Institute (FTPI) with the help of the World Bank between January and September 2007. It covered 1043 manufacturing firms from seven regions and nine industries.
The Investment Climate Surveys (ICS) were conducted by the World Bank and its partners across all geographic regions and covered firms of all sizes in many industries. The ICS collected a wide array of qualitative and quantitative information through face-to-face interviews with managers and owners regarding the investment climate in their country and the productivity of their firms. Topics covered in the ICS included the obstacles to doing business, infrastructure, finance, labor, corruption and regulation, contract enforcement, law and order, innovation and technology, and firm productivity. Taken together, the qualitative and quantitative data helped connect a country’s investment climate characteristics with firm productivity and performance.
Firm-level surveys have been administered since 1998 by different units within the World Bank. Since 2005-06, most data collection efforts have been centralized within the Enterprise Analysis Unit (FPDEA). Enterprise Surveys, a replacement for Investment Climate Surveys, are now conducted by the Enterprise Analysis Unit.

Thailand ICS surveyed 1043 firms from seven regions: North, Central, Bangkok, East, Upper North-East, Lower North-East and South. It included eight industries: food processing; textiles; wearing apparel; auto parts; electronic parts & appliances; rubber & plastics; wood products & furniture; and machinery & equipment.

The questionnaire has two parts. Part I contains questions on the perceptions of the chief operation officer or general manager on the constraints to the establishment, government relations, infrastructure, legal environment and conflict resolution, capacity, innovation, learning, and labor relations. Part II was administered to the chief accountant and human resource managers to obtain answers to specific questions relating to corporate finance and human resources. (The attached document also has part III - Questionnaire for Workers. The dataset described in this study does not include data based on this part of the questionnaire).
