Description

Definition
For children with diarrhea in the past 2 weeks, DIATRPK9 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment from a public (rural) health center or maternal and child health (MCH) center. This response category is country-specific to Pakistan.

Some samples in the "DIATR" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

For the 2006, 2012, and 2017 Pakistan samples, DIATRPK9 is combined with DIATRPK10 (basic health unit/family welfare center) in DIATRPUBHC (all public health centers).

IPUMS-DHS users interested in using DIATRPK9 are encouraged to review DIATRPUBHC for a more comprehensive response category for these two samples.
