ATTZ3 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, the woman reported a public district hospital as a source for testing for the AIDS virus. This response category is country-specific to Tanzania.

Some samples in the "AT" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

ATTZ3 is combined with ATTZ1 (public referral/specialist hospital), and ATTZ2 (public regional hospital) in ATPUBHOS (all public hospitals) for the 2010 Tanzania sample. For the 1996 Tanzanian sample, ATTZ3 is combined with ATTZ2 in ATPUBHOS. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using ATTZ3 are encouraged to review ATPUBHOS for a more comprehensive response category.
