Definition
GEO_RW2005 (V101_RW2005) indicates the region of Rwanda where the respondent was interviewed. DHS units in the 2005 Rwanda survey are equivalent to prefectures.
Other sample years have their own sample-specific geography variables. There are also integrated variables, GEO_RW1992_2005 and GEO_RW2005_2014, that provide spatially consistent units over time. Less geographic detail for the Rwanda 2005 sample can be found in GEOALT_RW2005 (provinces).
A GIS map for GEO_RW2005 (in shapefile format) can be downloaded from the DHS Program Spatial Data Repository [URL omitted from DDI.] Boundaries page.
