Definition
For women who gave birth in the last three to five years, ANCARECI1_01 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported that a nurse gave antenatal care (for the last birth). This response category is country-specific to Cote d'Ivoire.

Some samples in the "ANCARE" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

ANCARECI1_01 is combined with ANCARECI2_01 (midwife) for the 1994 and 1998 Cote d'Ivoire samples to make the standard variable ANCARENURM_01. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using ANCARECI1_01 are encouraged to review ANCARENURM_01 for this more comprehensive response category.
