For women who are currently married or living with a partner and who had sexual intercourse with someone other than their husband/partner in the last 12 months, SXEXMARREL indicates the woman's relationship with her last extra-marital sexual partner.

IPUMS-DHS may also be interested in the more inclusive variable SXPAR1REL, which reports the woman's relationship with her most recent sexual partner, regardless of her current marital status.
