<svar a="all" v="SN88A406 SN88A428">P5) Place of birth<br /><br /><div class="i1">This is the place where the person was effectively born, and not necessarily the place mentioned on his or her ID card. Ask the following question:<br /><br />"In which arrondissement, commune or country were you born?"<br /><br />Record the name of the "Commune", followed by the letter "C", or the name of the "Arrondissement" of birth for people born in Senegal. If the name of the "Arrondissement" is not known, record the name of the "Département", followed by the letter "D". If it is not known, record the name of the "Region", followed by the letter "R".</div><br /></svar>

Definition
This variable indicates the place of birth (department within Senegal or country, if born abroad).
While all people in the "same department" category indicated that they were born in the same department in which they currently reside, some people who designated a department by name also currently reside department in which they were born.
