<span class="h2">8.8 Fertility and Mortality</span></p>

<p>The objective of this module is to provide a general description of the fertility of the women that life in Uruguay without considering their marital status. </p>

<p>The questions are directed towards woman twelve years of age or older.</p>

<p>Keep in mind that it is very important to identify the situations of adolescence fertility and that the information attained in the census is a significant source for sexual and reproductive health policies.</p>

<p>How many female and male live births has she had in total? </p>

<p>Ask the question exactly as it is formulated.</p>

<p>"Live birth" is understood to be the son or daughter that, at the moment of birth, shows signs of life (crying, breathing, and moving). If he or she died after birth he or she is still considered as born live.</p>

<p>This definition includes: </p>
<ul class="b1">
<li>All the boys and girls, even those of other couples, live or not in the dwelling interviewed.</li>
</ul><p>This definition does not include: </p>
<ul class="b1">
<li>The children that were born dead (or the cases in which the pregnancy did not come to term).</li>

<li>The adopted children (because they are not the biological children of the woman interviewed).</li>
</ul><p>Record the quantity of sons and daughters born live that this person has had in total.</p>

<p>If the woman interviewed has not had live birth children, record 00.
