Description

Definition
1. Crime victim is a person who himself or his possession suffers from criminal act of criminal attempt for the last one year.
2. The definition of criminal act in this survey is all criminal actions and violations that are punishable by law based on Book of Criminal Law (KUHP), in regards to personal safety and posession, for example murder, assault, kidnapping or deprivation of liberty, theft with or without violence, burning, damaging, smuggling, fraud, rape, insult, illegal drugs, children trafficking, and aspersion. This survey only records victims of crimes, not the perpetrator of crime.
3. Theft is an act of taking other people’s goods partly or entirely with the intention to possess them illegally.
4. Robbery is an act of stealing preceded or followed by violence or violent threats towards the people with the intention to prepare or facilitate the burglary, or in the case of caught in the act, to allow escape either alone or with the gangs, or to remain hold on the possession of the stolen goods; if the action is done at night inside a house or on a closed yard with a house, on public streets, or on a running train or tram/street car.
5. Murder is an act intended to take someone’s life whether premeditated or not.
6. Fraud is an act intended to gain profit for one’s self or other people illegally, using false name or title, by deceiving or lying, making people surrendering their possession, or lending money or writing off debt.
7. Rape is an act of violence or violence threat to force a woman to have sex outside marriage relationship.

Notes
A household that organizes gambling or distributes drugs is not necessarily a victim (criminal household), unless there is a member of the household who has become a victim of crime due to other household is a gambler or junkie.
Victims of witchcraft, spell or amulets in this survey are not categorized as crime victim.
