For every female member of the household who has ever been married (WPK - Indonesian <span class="lang">Wanita Pernah Kawin</span>) and age 10 or older complete Blocks VII.A, VII.B, VII.C, VII.D and VII.E. Block VII.C is filled in only if WPK has ever had a live birth. Begin with the WPK household member who has the lowest serial number and continue until all WPK household members have been interviewed.</div><br /></svar></p>

<p><span class="ital">Complete Blocks VI.A, VI.B, VI.C and VI.D for every household member and then continue the interviews with WPK household members to complete Blocks VII.A, VII.B, VII.C, VII.D and VII.E.</span></p>

<p><svar v="ID05A492 ID05A493 ID05A494 ID05A495 ID05A496 ID05A498 ID05A499 ID05A500 ID05A501"><span class="em">7.8.2 Block VII.B. Family planning</span><br />This block collects information on the use of different types of family planning (KB) devices/ methods, that is, devices/methods couples use to prevent or delay pregnancy.<br /><br />Matters related to family planning may be considered private matters by the respondent, and she may be reluctant to discuss this matter. To overcome this feeling, show the respondent that you do not feel embarrassed or awkward to talk about this matter. Ask all the questions in the same way as you ask all the other questions on the form. If she is reluctant in answering any of the questions, the enumerator must assure the respondent that the same questions are being asked to all women in Indonesia.<br />Note that all questions about contraceptive devices/methods used by men apply to all husbands or former husbands. If the respondent has been married more than once, it does not matter which husband used which device/method.<br /></svar></p>

<p><svar a="all" v="ID05A501">Question 717: Main reason for not using FP devices/methods<br />Ask the respondent why she does not want to use any FP device/method. Circle the appropriate code corresponding to the respondent's answer. Emphasize that the main reason for not using FP devices/methods in this question is the reason at the time when she decided not to use any device/method or stopped using a FP device/method.<br /><br />"Seldom/refrain from sex" is the reason if the respondent seldom has sex with her husband, for example, because he is far away.<br /><br />"Menopause" is the reason if the respondent considers that she does not need to use a FP device/method because menopause has already occurred.<br /><br />"Not fertile/sterile" is the reason if the respondent feels it is not necessary to use a FP device/method because she is sterile/not fertile.<br /><br />"Wants as many children as possible" is the reason if the respondent wants more children.<br /><br />"Respondent doesn't want to use" is the answer if the respondent disagrees with using family planning devices/methods.<br /><br /><span class="pg">[p. 135]</span><br /><br />"Husband opposes use" is the answer if the respondent's husband does not permit her to use FP devices/methods.<br /><br />"Others oppose use" is the reason if there are others who disagree with the respondent's use of FP devices/methods.<br /><br />"Religion prohibition" is the reason if the respondent believes that according to her religion she is not allowed to use FP devices/methods.<br /><br />"Doesn't know any FP devices/methods" is the reason if the respondent does not know any FP devices/methods.<br /><br />"Doesn't know where to obtain FP" is the reason if the respondent does not know the place to obtain FP devices/methods.<br /><br />"Health" is the reason if the respondent's health does [not] permit her to use FP devices/methods.<br /><br />"Fear side effects" is the reason if the respondent fears the consequences that will arise if she used FP devices/methods.<br /><br />"Lack of access/too far away" is the reason if the respondent faces difficulty in getting FP devices/methods or the devices/methods are not available at the institution, pharmacy, or shops where the respondent is allowed to obtain the FP devices/methods.<br /><br />"Too expensive" is the reason if the respondent feels that there has been an increase in the cost of getting the FP devices/methods and feels that she cannot afford to purchase them.<br /><br />"Uncomfortable" is the reason if the respondent feels uncomfortable when using the FP devices/methods.<br /><br /><span class="pg">[p. 136]</span><br /><br />"Gain/lose weight" is the reason if the respondent fears getting heavy or thin if she uses the FP devices/methods.<br /><br />"Others" are reasons that are not mentioned above.<br /></svar>
