The number in use is the number possessed, excluding any item which is unusable and not likely to be repaired. It will include those items which may not be in use temporarily but are likely to be put into use after repair/necessary servicing. New items which are yet to be used will be included in "number in use". For certain items the entry cell has been shaded in this column; this means that column (3) need not be filled in.
