Abstract
Despite care and treatment advances that have
turned HIV into a chronic and manageable
condition, people living with HIV (PLHIV) continue
to suffer from stigma and discrimination from their
family and communities. Mental disorders are also
one of the most common problems in the life of
PLHIV. AIDS-related stigma and mental disorders
both have significant impact on health status,
healthcare seeking behaviors, and quality of life
of this vulnerable group. The linkage between
these two common conditions has not been
well addressed in many developing countries,
including Cambodia. We therefore conducted this
study to examine the association of AIDS-related
stigma and discrimination with mental disorders
among PLHIV in Cambodia.
