Abstract |
This paper discusses current developments in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector in Botswana and the implications for moving the country toward an information society. The paper assesses ICT infrastructure, policy and regulatory status within the frameworks of: Botswana's national development blue print, Vision 2016; Africa's Information Society Initiative (AISI); Digital Opportunity Task Force of G8 (DOT Force); and the forthcoming World Summit on Information Society (WSIS). Challenges that the country must overcome to attain information society status are discussed and the way forward charted out. |
