Abstract | Botswana has come a long way from one of the poorest nations at independence in 1966 to a middle income country. This phenomenal growth has resulted in the country recording some of the most impressive figures in most economic factors such as GDP per capita for 2006 of US$10 505 PPP, way ahead of most economies in Africa (see Table 3.1). However to sustain this impressive performance requires that the country continues trailblazing in newer sectors such as information and communications technology (ICTs), where as shown in Table 3.1, it has not achieved its goals, apart perhaps from access to mobile telephony |
