This article discusses the impact of gender inequality on the health of women of reproductive age in Nigerian and Ethiopia. Using data from the author's field research and supported by information from government reports, nongovernmental organizations, and Demographic and Health Surveys, the author shows how the low position of African women in society negatively affects their reproductive health.
