Abstract | The paper uses subjective data to analyze intra-household inequality. Using two different subjective questions of the Russian data RLMS, we assume first, a correspondence between the income level that household members report and their true income sharing, and, second, between their answer to a satisfaction question and their utility. Starting with a collective model including household production, we show that the answers given by the different members of the household bring pertinent information on income sharing and on utility in the household. In particular, we find a significant effect of the female-male wage ratio in reported income and satisfaction discrepancies between household members. |
