Abstract | Over the past four decades, the organized international family planning effort has made a great progress in expanding the availability and use of voluntary reproductive Health and family planning services. Access to modern contraception has become recognized by the international community as a basic human right; however, obstacles and challenges remain. To assess Knowledge, attitude and practice for long acting and permanent contraceptive methods utilization among women of age group 18-49 years in Ayder referral hospital, Tigray region, Ethiopia. An institutional based across sectional descriptive study was conducted among 200 women’s come to Ayder referral hospital for antenatal care , family planning , post natal, immunization and other services . The data was collected using face to face structured questionnaire based interview. Surprisingly enough, 198(99%) of the total surveyed population knew about long acting family planning methods. And were aware that long acting contraceptives are used to control births and space children while the remaining2(1%) didn’t know about long acting family planning and were not aware that long acting contraceptives are used to control births and space children.52(26%) of the population are currently using long acting family planning method. However; there were no users for female or male sterilization. This finding revealed that the utilization of long acting family planning method was high in Ayder referral hospital and a significant amount of the participants had low knowledge on long acting family planning method particularly vasectomy tubal ligation. |
