Abstract | This paper analyzes the relationship between unpaid work and unemployment duration from a gender perspective, taking into account that women are more involved and do more activities of care and unpaid housework compared to men. To demonstrate this relationship nonparametric and parametric models are estimated through survival analysis, a model of selection bias correction is also estimated. The results show that unpaid work has a statistically significant impact on unemployment duration and the effect is greater in women, due to their greater participation and use of time in activities of unpaid work. |
