Abstract | Poverty trap concept is widely used in development economics studies, but it’s often attributed to households’ (or individuals) conditions themselves. This paper proposes to analyze this concept through wage discrimination between two groups of interest: individuals affiliated to contributive health regime and those who belong to subsidiary regime (provided by Colombian government itself). With data taken from the Integrated Household Great Survey (GEIH, by its acronym in Spanish) [DANE, 2014] a decomposition study à la Oaxaca-Blinder is performed, finding that wage differentials are due to asymmetries in capacities as to a possible discrimination. |
