Abstract | Pineapple, the third most important tropical fruit in the world after banana and citrus is a delicious fruit with fine flavours. The study analyzed pineapple marketing in Surelere and Ogo-Oluwa Local Government Areas of Oyo-State. The purposive sampling technique was used to select sixty (60) pineapple marketers in the study area. Structural questionnaire supported by oral interview was used to collect primary data from respondents. Data were analyzed using the descriptive statistics, budgetary analysis and linear regression. The study showed that the marketers were mostly female (60%) with mean age of 33.5 years. The mean years of experience was 7 years, the mean household size was 8, while 71.3% had formal education. Major problem faced by respondents is the rapid deterioration. The cost and returns analysis showed that pineapple marketing is a profitable venture with a gross margin of N 145,133.42k/annum. They can form marketing group from which they can buy from in bulk, and this will reduce the cost of pineapple and increase their revenue. |
