Abstract | The study assessing the effects of informal telecommunications sector on the physical social and economic lifestyles of Lagos Mainland Local government area residents, using primary data collected from household heads and informal telecommunication operators within the study area. Findings reveal that the sector has several physical, social and economic implications that are broadly structured into positive and negative impacts. Some of these impacts are employment generation, encroachment on open spaces and insecurity. Considering these findings, this study recommends among others the need for a regulatory body established to monitor the informal sector activities so as to organize and regulate their activities while still maintaining the ease of entry into the sector |
