Abstract | The Kingdom of Morocco is frequently used by the U.N. and other international organizations as an example of moderation and progressiveness in its attitudes and laws regarding women. Despite this perception, several Moroccan laws, containing deep inequalities for women, marginalize groups of vulnerable women and girls. To improve the lives of marginalized women in Morocco, funding and advocacy efforts must not only focus on creating women leaders in Morocco, but should encompass Morocco’s invisible women: child domestics, single mothers, and survivors of domestic abuse. My paper will examine these gaps in the legal development of women’s rights in Morocco as they apply to single mothers, child domestic workers, and domestic violence in Morocco, and argue for advocacy efforts that could better empower a larger range of women in Morocco. |
