This final report on the 1997 Moldova reproductive health survey (MRHS) was carried out from July to September with the technical assistance of the Division of Reproductive Health of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The MRHS was designed to collect information from a representative sample of reproductive-age women throughout Moldova. The questionnaire covered a wide range of topics related to reproductive health for all women regardless of marital status and included additional questions on sex education and sexual behavior for women aged 15-24. This study covered the following aspects: fertility and pregnancy experience; pregnancy, delivery, and maternal health; knowledge of contraception; attitudes and opinions about contraception; current and past contraceptive use; contraceptive counseling; reproductive health attitudes; sex education; sexual and contraceptive behavior among young adults; health behaviors; physical and sexual abuse; knowledge of AIDS transmission and prevention.
