Abstract | This contribution is meant to highlight the difficulties besetting the integration of linguistic issues in development projects, of most concern here in the field of education via the learning – teaching of national languages to all Moroccan citizens in all levels and degrees. To meet the afore-mentioned goals, we offer a brief description of the international and national contexts in which the introduction of Amazigh (Berber) in the educational system is conducted, followed by an assessment of the economic situation of Morocco. Afterwards, we accommodate the question of promoting Amazigh culture/language not only in the light of international conventions but also with regard to the advances made nationally in this respect over the last 10 years. We shall bring the paper to an end by developing a whole range of psycho-pedagogical arguments as well as other no less important aspects (anthropological and economic) that stand in fundamental support of the teaching – learning of the amazigh language in Morocco, especially as it has become a categorical reality that language is a key factor for development. |
