Abstract |
For the first time, the 1993 Jamaica Contraceptive Prevalence Survey has included an independent sample of men aged 15-54 years as well as detailed questions in a special module addressed to young adults aged 15-24. Whereas previous surveys included women aged 15-49, the current survey is limited to women aged 15-44, and all comparisons have been adjusted to take the coverage difference into account. The entire survey is presented in 5 volumes: 1) administrative report; 2) knowledge of and attitudes towards family, contraception, and AIDS; 3) sexual experience, contraceptive practice, and reproduction; 4) sexual behavior and contraceptive use among young adults; and 5) profiles of health regions. In this, the fifth volume, a summary is given for results in each of Jamaica's 4 health regions. Each summary begins with an introduction, followed by information on fertility, the planning status of the last pregnancy, knowledge of contraceptives, contraceptive use, condom use, opinions on contraception and fertility, contraceptive sources, the need for family planning services, and young adults. The text is liberally illustrated with charts, figures, and graphs. |
