Abstract |
This article reviews the role of a school psychologist hired to consult with UNICEF Maldives in the development and implementation of an integrated policy for early childhood development in the Republic of Maldives. Working with UNICEF staff, government officials, non-governmental organizations, teachers, parents and children, the unique training received by school psychologists appeared to be an ideal match to respond to the varied and multiple demands of the task at hand. This article advocates that the specific training received by school psychologists matches the efforts of many international organizations working for the well-being of young children and encourages graduate programs and professionals to take an active role in international development work. |
