Abstract |
This article summarizes the main results of a survey on the consumption of film based on a sample of 2000 students from several universities located in different parts of the country. The survey shows significant variations in consumption according to a number of variables: the subject studied, the education of the head of the household, the size of the town where the university is located, the distance to the nearest movie theatre and household composition. The survey also shows the importance of new patterns of consumption, outside movie theatres and broadcast TV, such as watching movies through the computer or purchasing informally reproduced movies. The survey also suggests that consumption in movie theatres is also influenced by other factors such as discounts and other activities that can be performed in commercial complexes where many of the multiplexes are located. |
