Arthritis is a disease that attacks the joint of the extremities. This disease causes pain that may result in disability. Sometimes patients feel frustrated or suffering from other psychological problems due to this disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence and risk factors of arthritis in Indonesia. Data was taken from the Basic Health Survey (Riskesdas) 2007 conducted by the Ministry of Health and the National Sosioeconomic Survey (2007) from Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The respondents were >15 years of age, with a total number of 677 888 people. Multivariat analysis was done using logistic regression analysis. All independent variables, i.e. gender, age, education, body mass index (BMI), socio-economic status, types of areas (urban and rural) and occupation showed significant statistical associations with arthritis in Indonesia. |
