Definition
For children with a fever or cough in the past 2 weeks, FEVTRMA1 indicates, in response to an open-ended question, whether the child received treatment from a traditional practitioner. This response category is country-specific to Morocco.
Some samples in the "FEVTR" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
For the 2003 Morocco sample, FEVTRMA1 is combined with FEVTRMA2 (traditional birth attendant) and FEVTRMA3 (traditional herbalist) in FEVTRPRIVHL (all traditional practitioners/healers). IPUMS-DHS users interested in using FEVTRMA1 are encouraged to review FEVTRPRIVHL for a more comprehensive response category.
