Definition
For women who had symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection in the past 12 months, STIADTZ4 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported seeking advice or treatment from a religious referral/specialist hospital for this problem. This response category is country-specific to Tanzania.
Some samples in the "STIAD" series include multiple categories that can be consolidated into a single broad response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable, while also preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.
STIADTZ4 is combined with STIADTZ5 (religious district hospital), STIADTZ6 (religious health center), and STIADTZ7 (religious dispensary) in STIADPRIVMIS (all faith-based health facilities) for the 2004 and 2010 Tanzania samples. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using STIADTZ4 are encouraged to review STIADPRIVMIS for a more comprehensive response category.
