Socio-Economic/Monitoring Survey [hh/sems]
Since 1992, BPS through Susenas collecting core data and the module data every year. Susenas modules is divided into three major groups, that is module socio-cultural and educational, modules housing and health, module household consumption and household expenditure, implementation of each module is every three years.
Data required in the development planning among others is data of education, health, housing, consumption/expenditure of household. Such data is very useful for the Government in the planning of either sector or cross-sector development. In order to provide such data, Central Statistical Agency (BPS) conducts National Socioeconomic Survey (Susenas) almost every year since 1963. Susenas data currently is also the data that is highly required to fulfill the Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s) data.
In year 2002, according to its rotation Susenas module is the module on socio-cultural and education. Module of Susenas samples as many as of 291,888 households are the same as Core Susenas so that the estimated numbers are expected to be obtained up to the level of district/city. Field implementation like last year shall be conducted by a team of one (1) Team Coordinator (Teamcoord) and two (2) Enumerators (PCS). By this system, it is expected that the field implementation can be accelerated and the quality result of field census can be improved.
Lately BPS is demanded to be able to present data up to the smallest level namely sub-district (kecamatan) level and even to village level. This requirement of data is inseparable from the quality data results. For 2002 Susenas, presentation up to the level of district/city might cause problems if the samples are not met (high RSE) or rare cases that cannot represent, so that the data do not correspond to the actual condition. To anticipate this, there is an activity that have to be conducted by District/City BPS or Provincial BPS namely verification of data quality prior to sending / presenting data to BPS. This activity is critical as BPS data quality depends on data quality generated by District/City BPS as well as Provincial BPS. In order to achieve an accurate and timely data, coordination between units in the regions seems very influential.

Scope
- Data Collected by core questionnaire (VSEN2002.K) include:
a. General Information of household members (art) that includes name, relationship to head of household, sex, age, marital status.
b. Information races household heads (krt).
c. Information about the state of health includes the health of the population, the costs incurred for the purposes of health household.
d. Information household member education 5 years and above
e. Information of economic activity and employment household member 10 years and above.
f. Fertility information for women never married and how to prevent pregnancy for married women.
g. Housing information include the mastery of residence, the physical condition of residential buildings, residential buildings and facilities.
h. Information of the average household consumption and the main source of household income.
i. Household socio-economic information.
- Data Collected by Consumption Module Questionnaire (VSEN2002.M) includes:
Information on consumption and household spending, includes detailed data on household consumption expenditure divided into consumption food and non-food regardless of goods origin.

In 2002 Susenas conducted in all geographic regions of Indonesia with a sample size of 214 144 households spread across urban and rural areas. Due consideration of the situation and security conditions are not possible, then the implementation of the Provincial Susenas 2002 in DI Aceh is only done in the city of Banda Aceh, Maluku in Ambon, Ternate in North Maluku, Irian Jaya in Sorong, Irian Jaya regency Central in Timika, Irian Jaya and East in the city of Jayapura. Samples in the province only for households Core.

Sampling
In 2002 Susenas sample prepared to estimate district / city levels. The design sample frame Susenas 2002 was two-phase sample designs for urban areas and three-phased sample designs for rural areas. Sample selection for urban and rural areas is done separately.
For urban areas, the first phase of the sample frame census blocks selected a number of census block by systemic linear sampling. Then, from each selected census blocks selected 16 households by systemic linear sampling.
For rural areas, the first phase of the sample frame number of sub-districts selected by probability proportional to size, with the number of household size in the district. The second phase, from each district elected, selected a number of census blocks in a systemic linear sampling. And final phase, from each selected census blocks selected 16 households by systemic linear sampling.
