    Abstract

    The 2007 Census of Agriculture identified approximately 326,000 hectares of land in farms. This represents a decline of 81,624 hectares representing just over 20 per cent since 1996. Approximately 62 percent of the land in farming may be classified as active farm land; that is land allocated to crops and pasture.
