The Cote d'Ivoire PEJEDEC Public Works Midline Survey was collected as part of the impact evaluation of a public works program for urban youth. This survey was conducted 4 to 5 months after the start of the program, while youth were still participating. Both treatment and control individuals as well as the heads of their household were interviewed. The Baseline, Midline and Endline Surveys are available for download in the Microdata Library.
The Cote d'Ivoire PEJEDEC Public Works Midline Survey was collected as part of the impact evaluation of a public works program for urban youth. This dataset captures the mid-program status of participants in a randomized evaluation of a public works program in Côte d'Ivoire. Data was collected 4-5 months into the intervention, covering employment, earnings, time use, well-being, behaviors, and savings, to assess contemporaneous program impacts.

For the midline survey, data was collected from 3,036 individuals. This included the entire control group (1,035 individuals at baseline, accounting for minor attrition). From the treatment group, a sub-sample of 2,001 beneficiaries was surveyed.
Brigades assigned to wage job search training were excluded from this midline survey. This decision was due to supervisors concurrently undergoing management training. This raised concerns about potential behavioral shifts influencing survey outcomes.
Attrition at midline was low (2.6%) and balanced across treatment and control groups. A two-weeks tracking phase was implemented in February 2014 to limit attrition, reducing it from 5.4% to 2.6%
Midline attrition was 2.6%.
Probability weights are built to account for stratification, sampling of non-respondents during tracking surveys (midline), and sub-sampling of the treatment group at midline. See technical paper for details.
The midline questionnaire includes detailed modules on employment (up to three activities), earnings, time use, well-being, behaviors and list experiments to proxy risky behaviors.
