Agricultural Survey [ag/oth]
The FAO has developed a monitoring system in 26 food crisis countries to better understand the impacts of various shocks on agricultural livelihoods, food security and local value chains. The Monitoring System consists of primary data collected from households on a periodic basis (more or less every four months, depending on seasonality). This fourth-round survey in Somalia reached 2950 households, approximately 160 agricultural households per region. All the regions of Somalia were targeted for data collection except Banadir. Therefore, 17 out of 18 regions were surveyed. The surveys were conducted from 7 April 2022 to 27 May 2022 through computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI). Scope
The description of the survey covered information related to the following:
- HOUSEHOLD : household information
- INCOME SOURCES, SHOCKS : income changes, shocks experienced by households
- CROP PRODUCTION : crops planted, area planted, area harvested, crop production difficulties
- CROP MARKETING : crop sale difficulties, crop sale price
- LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION : types of livestock present on holding, number of livestock, livestock production difficulties
- LIVESTOCK MARKETING : livestock sale, livestock sale difficulties, livestock sale price
- FISHERIES PRODUCTION : fish activity, comparison of fish production,
- FISHERIES MARKETING : fish sale, fish sale difficulties, fish sale price
- FOOD SECURITY AND CONSUMPTION : food consumption, food utilization, comping strategies
- NEEDS ASSISTANCE : open questions on the needs for assistance

Sampling
This fourth-round survey utilized panel data and random digital dialing (RDD) techniques reaching 2950 households, approximately 160 agricultural households per region. Nugaal, Sanaag and Middle Juba regions were not representative at a regional level because there were fewer than 90 households interviewed in each of these regions. All the regions of Somalia were targeted for data collection except Banadir. Therefore, 17 out of 18 regions were surveyed.
The data were weighted by regional strata base weights at adm1 level, agricultural producers households weights at adm0 level and finished roof as wealth weight at adm0 level.

Data processing
The datasets have been edited and processed for analysis by the Needs Assessment team at the Office of Emergency and Resilience, FAO, with some dashboards and visualizations produced. For more information, see https://data-in-emergencies.fao.org/pages/countries.

Micro datasets disseminated by FAO shall only be allowed for research and statistical purposes. Any user which requests access working for a commercial company will not be granted access to any micro dataset regardless of their specified purpose. Users requesting access to any datasets must agree to the following minimal conditions:
- The micro dataset will only be used for statistical and/or research purposes;
- Any results derived from the micro dataset will be used solely for reporting aggregated information, and not for any specific individual entities or data subjects;
- The users shall not take any action with the purpose of identifying any individual entity (i.e. person, household, enterprise, etc.) in the micro dataset(s). If such a disclosure is made inadvertently, no use will be made of the information, and it will be reported immediately to FAO;
- The micro dataset cannot be re-disseminated by users or shared with anyone other than the individuals that are granted access to the micro dataset by FAO.
